Mercedes 190 2.6 Manual AMG

This is a 1988 W201 model which is pre all the plastic panels that were added so in my opinion it looks better. It represents Mercedes Benz at a time when they were at the top of their game, some have said that is the last traditional Merc. It is in great condition, having spent much of its life garaged the chassis is sound. It is a fact that this car stands out from the crowd. 160 bhp gets to the road through a set of genuine AMG 17' Alloy Wheels with 235/45-17 Tyres, Bilstein shocks and lowered springs keep it steady. There is a Sony MP3 CD Stero unit included with some fine pioneer speakers in each corner, this also has been adapted to accept an external MP3 player such as an ipod through the AUX channel via a couple of phono sockets fitted into the dash.

Since I have owned this car I have redone the under bonnet sound proofing, replaced the water pump, kept it well serviced, fitted new rear brake disks, pads, handbrake cables and handbrake shoes. The Heater Motor has been renewed, it has platinum tipped spark plugs, new high performance HT leads, a new distributor cap and a new coil.

Replacement parts are not expensive, GSF Car Parts, Euro Car Parts and Ebay ensures that!

It will have a full MOT and is at present under offer but I am trying to find an owner who will appreciate it for what it is and that is one of the best 6 cylinder, manual transmission, rear wheel drive cars I have ever owned or driven.

190E 2.6 straight-six cylinder

After the world had become used to the 16 valve models, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the surprise 2.6 model in 1986. This was fitted with a new 2.6 L six-cylinder M103 petrol engine from the new W124 E-class model range, producing 160 bhp and bringing new character to the 190 class. Being a straight six configuration, it had smoothness lacking from the existing four-cylinder petrol or diesel engines. Although on paper it looks as if it was superfluous alongside the similarly powerful 2.3-16 valve, it was in fact intended as a less sporting, less frantic, more relaxed and smoother alternative to the 16 valve models. Famed motoring journalist LJK Setright once rated the 190E 2.6 as one of his favourite cars.
